This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This annual 5-day continuing medical education course (scheduled for June 19-23, 2006) provides physicians, physicists, engineers, and technologists an overview of the fundamentals of magnetic resonance imaging and computed tomography, and the latest techniques presented by clinical experts. Faculty members include 6 from Duke University: G. Allan Johnson PhD, Linda Gray MD, H. Page McAdams MD, Erik Paulson MD, Jeffrey Petrella MD, Charles Spritzer MD, 2 physics experts in radiology from Stanford University: Gary Glover PhD, Norbert Pelc ScD, and a faculty member from GE Healthcare, Thomas Foo, PhD. The physics and technology of each MR and CT topic are discussed and then illustrated with examples from the clinical arena. Changes this year include a new course name to reflect revised content, a new Duke radiology faculty member with expertise in pulmonary imaging, more clinical content, focus on advanced visualization methods, and case studies. Topics fall under these categories: -Basics of MRI -Fast imaging/angiography -Clinical imaging protocols -3D multi-detector CT -Functional imaging -Case studies in CT/MR angiography, colonography, cardiac assessment
