This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of the study is to test the effect of a drug called acipimox on the amount of free fatty acids released from fat cells. We also want to see if acipimox changes the way blood vessels expand. We will be comparing acipimox to placebo. Subjects will receive both acipimox and placebo at different times during the study. This is an investigator initiated study.
