英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The overall goal of this project is to determine the effect of insulin on neuronal activation. We intend to test the hypothesis that insulin has effects independent of glucose on neuronal activation. In this experiment we will examine neuronal activation as measured ERPs under conditions in which serum insulin concentrations are suppressed or maintained at a high physiological range during a euglycemic clamp. ERPs will be measured during a visual and a memory task. The role of the GCRC will be to assist with the euglycemic clamp and to provide subjects with a meal at the completion of the study.
