This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. ATN 004- Healthy Choices is a multi-site behavioral intervention with HIV positive adolescents, ages 16-24 years that is being implemented at the University of Maryland+s Adolescent and Young Adult Center. The study includes a Baseline visit, 4 intervention sessions (for subjects randomized to the Intervention arm of the study) as well as 5 Follow-Up visits (3, 6, 9, 12, 15 months). Participants will be recruited from the Adolescent and Young Adult Center, the PACE (Pediatric AIDS Care and Evaluation) Clinic, the Evelyn Jordan Center and Maryland General Adult HIV Clinics. Referrals will also be accepted from local community centers. The study+s primary objective is to determine the efficacy of a motivational enhancement intervention in reducing health risk behaviors (drug and alcohol use, sexual risk behavior, poor adherence to medications) among HIV + youth.
