This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Radiation damage on protein crystals, especially since data is collected at third generation synchrotron facilities, is an issue and is getting more and more attention. Ultra high resolution structures are what people aspire to obtain. However, ultra high resolution structures are most sensitive to and affected by radiation damage. We applied the new strategy we developed for time-dependent structure observations to remove or minimize radiation effects and thus yield the real high resolution structure from a standard dataset.
