This core, led by Dr. James Herndon, will administer and oversee the budgets of the individual projects and other cores of the program project grant (PPG). This will be done with the assistance of a full time administrative assistant. The core also will be responsible for maintaining communication and scientific coordination of the projects through regular meetings. In addition, the core will have responsibility for storage and analysis of data on a project-wide basis. The specific aims of the Administrative Core are to: (1) Oversee the scientific progress and assure that the progress of the individual projects is coordinated, (2) Organize and maintain monthly meetings of the project staff, (3) Organize a meeting with an external advisory panel, (4) Establish a centralized, web-based relational database for the PPG and provide programming support for the touch-screen-based computer testing systems, (5) Provide oversight for the analysis of data when results from different projects are to be linked, and provide statistical advice for individual projects and cores, (6) Develop and implement a plan for data sharing of the results of the PPG, including the publication of a volume of chapters describing the results and indicating how data can be obtained by other investigators, as required by NIH. These support functions are essential to the smooth functioning of the overall project.
