英文摘要
The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Rheumatic Disease Core Center (RDCC) is a multidisciplinary program designed to foster and promote the application of scientifically rigorous, state of the art techniques to important questions in biomedical research in order to advance our basic understanding of disease and, thereby, improve the diagnosis and treatment of patients with arthritis and musculoskeletal diseases. The Administrative Core is specifically designed to coordinate RDCC activities while facilitating nteractions and collaborations, promoting scientific development, setting the strategic agenda, and performing continuous evaluation of ongoing programs. The Administrative Unit will enable optimal coordination of the various components through its committees and regularly scheduled meetings and seminars serving to enhance communication and scientific development among the various investigators. Three committees have been established to ensure the highest quality in the operation of the RDCC: the Executive Committee, made up of the Center Director (Carter), the Associate Director (Mountz), and the director of each core (Accavitti, Kesterson, Keyser and Carter); the Internal Advisory Committee, chaired by the Director of the UAB Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Center (Kimberly); and the External Advisory Committee (Fox, Holers, and Ivashkiv). These advisory groups will counsel and assist the Center Director in maximizing the strengths of the RDCC cores, Pilot and Feasibility projects, and Scientific Enrichment Program and with strategic planning in each of the thematic areas of the RDCC. The Executive Committee will also be a forum for feedback from the advisory committees established for each core. The Center Director will be responsible for operations, communication, and overall leadership. The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for oversight of the P&F projects. The personnel of the Administrative Core are highly motivated and experienced and will assist the Director, Associate Director and the three committees by ensuring efficient communications, logistical support and fiscal responsibility in the operation of the RDCC.
