This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. CFP and YFP are currently the best fluorescent proteins for FRET analysis. The development of mCherry has allowed dual color imaging with GFP and mCherry. We disseminate plasmids to tag any gene in yeast by PCR with CFP, YFP, GFP or mCherry. CFP, YFP and GFP can tag either the N-terminus or C-terminus of a protein. We fulfilled 95 requests for plasmids and/or strains. CFP and YFP are currently the best fluorescent proteins for FRET analysis. The development of mCherry has allowed dual color imaging with GFP and mCherry.
