This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The luminescence of nm-sized gold beads is highly dependent on the interaction between the particle and its immediate surroundings. In this project we characterize and exploit the use of gold-beads as biological markers and address biophysical questions.
