英文摘要
Abstract The purpose of this administrative supplement is to provide sufficient funding to carry out the proposed work. Although we have worked diligently to develop the prevention program and procedures for data collection and have begun data collection for Phase I of the study, our progress has been slowed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Teaching and administrative demands on the PIs (e.g., moving courses online, managing graduate student challenges related to the pandemic) have impacted our progress in meeting project goals. In addition, there have been periods of time that the IRBs at both institutions have prevented in- person data collection. Despite these challenges, we were ready to begin data collection in the summer of 2021, but recruitment was challenged by the lack of students on campus because most courses were offered remotely. Thus, we are just beginning to run participants through Phase I of the project. Because these disruptions were unpredictable and repeated, it was not possible to simply suspend the project and wait to resume at a later point in time, which would have preserved our budget for completing the project. Thus, we have utilized our budget to ensure readiness for data collection on an unpredictable schedule. Further, although our progress with data collection has been slowed by COVID-19 related challenges, we have utilized our relatively limited committed effort both to strengthen the empirical foundations of our prevention program and to develop enhancements that we believe will increase the efficacy of our program. Our request for an administrative supplement will provide additional support via increased PI effort, and additional graduate research assistant support and supplies for recruitment during year 3 of the project. This will provide adequate resources to continue data collection on the RCT through the fall of 2022. The no-cost extension year will be used to analyze the results and disseminate the findings, and to submit a follow-up grant proposal to build upon the findings of this R34 project.
