MEDICAL EVALUATION AND TREATMENT OF OSTEOPOROSIS

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The overall objective of this proposal is to develop a comprehensive protocol for the evaluation and treatment of patients with or suspected of having osteoporosis. Efforts of four clinics involved in osteoporosis care on campus will be combined. Data obtained will be entered onto an osteoporosis database, which would be used for data retrieval for charting (to EPIC), reporting (to referring physicians), and data analysis (for publications). It is fully expected that important information of clinical and pathophysiological significance would result from this proposal. Moreover, an improved reporting system for evaluation and follow-up is expected.
