PULSE AMPLITUDE TESTING (PAT) IN ADOLESCENTS ENDOPAT: A NOVEL TECHNOLOGY

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. Primary aim To demonstrate reproducibility of Endo-PAT in healthy adolescents 13-19 years of age. Hypothesis: The mean difference in Endo-PAT index readings on two separate days on the same patient is < 0.3 in adolescents Outcome: Mean difference between the paired Endo-PAT indices Secondary aims 1. To demonstrate feasibility of Endo-PAT in healthy adolescents age 13-19 years of age. Hypothesis: Endo-PAT is a feasible test in adolescents Outcomes: The proportion of completed studies to attempted studies and the proportion of analyzable studies to completed studies. 2. To gather data with regard to discomfort, stress, etc. Hypothesis: Endo-PAT results in minimal temporary discomfort in adolescents. Outcome: The average reported level of discomfort as a measured on a pain scale.
