We are requesting funds for the acquisition of modern and optimized micro-Raman spectroscopic system. The system will be used mainly for the study of materials submitted to extreme pressure and temperature conditions in diamond anvil cells. Micro-Raman spectroscopy is an essential research and characterization tool for the study of dense gas hydrates and molecular systems. Without a new, modern, and optimized micro-Raman spectroscopic system, we will be unable to continue to pursue our NSERC-sponsored research in materials physics. The acquisition of a new micro-Raman spectroscopic system is thus essential and urgent.
