This proposal is for a state of the art flow measurement system to be used for microfluidic analysis. Microfluidic devices are a new technology used for detection of biological and chemical agents in very small fluid samples. These new technologies allow for rapid screening of these agents by providing detection and or measurement of analyte concentration. The requested equipment assists in the analysis of these devices at the development stage by providing detailed information on the concentration of analytes and the nature of the fluid flow field. It is necessary to quantify the flow field, as flow resistance increases with decreasing flow passage size. Flow channel characterization is of the utmost importance in order to develop efficient microfluidic devices. Quantifying analyte concentration is also of great importance for the development of an effective microfluidic device.
