Complex microwave conductivity of organic conductors at low temperatures

Microwave measurements have proven to be very useful in probing the superconducting state in different types of conductors. This kind of measurement is very important since it can help to eventually identify the physical mechanism leading to superconductivity and to further accelerate their potential technological use. The complex microwave conductivity deduced from these measurements yield a particularly important parameter called the magnetic penetration length whose temperature profile is indicative of the type of physics at work in the materials. My laboratory is dedicated to such measurements in organic superconductors for which the type of superconductivity has not yet been solidly established. Our microwave experiment is very well adapted to these materials at very low temperatures and high magnetic fields. The replacement of an important microwave equipment and an upgrade of the temperature control are the objects of the present proposal.
