The goal of this project is to upgrade the signal processing system for my research in central auditory coding and plasticity that is currently supported by NSERC. My research focuses on neuronal coding of central auditory system to sound. More recently, I investigate the changes of temporal processing by neurons in low frequency region in the central auditory system after damage in high frequency region in inner ears. The outcome of this research will provide new insight to the mechanism of central auditory plasticity: the changes of the nervous system in responses to the changes in sensorial input. Research in this area is not only important to neuroscience but also relevant to some basic issues in clinical audiology and aural rehabilitation.
