The long-term goals of my research program is to contribute significantly to (1) the elucidation of the role of auxin signaling in leaf formation in Arabidopsis thaliana, and (2) identification and functional analysis of genes involved in fiber and vessel element differentiation in both A. thaliana and Populus species. The long-term intention of the second project is also to attach potential breeding values to genes for improvement of fiber crops, primarily forest tree species.
