We are requesting funding to purchase an ultralow freezer for use in studies of fish physiology. The freezer would replace an older ultralow freezer that broke down and is not cost-efficient to repair, while at the same time providing ultralow freezer space to two additional faculty members who are currently relying on the very limited space available in a core facility ultralow freezer. The three co-applicants require ultralow freezer storage because they make use in their research programs of molecular biology and immunohistochemical techniques that rely on very low temperature freezing for sample preservation.
