Computed tomography (CT) utilizes X-rays to generate diagnostic images. It is widely used for diagnostic body imaging as well for surveillance imaging in early cancer detection. Over the past two decades, Toshiba Medical Systems has made significant investments in CT scan design and has developed unique, cutting edge CT scanners. Toshiba Medical Systems Canada Ltd is part of a larger team that focuses on improved diagnostic accuracy, radiation dose reduction, and sub-second CT image acquisition such that patient sedation is rarely required. Toshiba has joined a world-wide industry campaign to develop best imaging practices to lower radiation dose for all patients with a specific focus on pediatric patients. This project is part of this pioneer effort and aims to optimize image quality and minimize radiation dose during CT for pulmonary nodule surveillance, one of the most common indications for repeat thoracic CT.
