Cell migration is essential to living organisms. Tissue formation, wound healing, inflammation and immune response are all driven by cell traction forces (CTF) that act on the extracellular matrix (ECM) to push and pull the cells along. Unfortunately, the generation and regulation of CTF is also vital to the propagation of cancer, osteoporosis and cardiovascular disease.
