Researchers at McGill University (McGill) and Doris Hosiery Mills Ltd. are pursuing a collaborative research project to determine the mechanical effects of resistive undergarments (RU) on the hip's passive joint moment (PJM). One of the goals of this RU product is to strategically modulate the resistance about the hip joint, with the specific intent on modestly increasing muscle recruitment associated with common daily living tasks. To this end, this research collaboration intends to quantify in vivo the magnitude of functional moment resistance that can be developed by these garments.
