To support the evolving business goals of companies, legacy software systems need to be modernized. Indeed, as time goes by, a software system undergoes many changes, its code becomes more complex and its quality degrades. Hence, a form of modernization is required. The goal of the modernization process may be to migrate a software system to a new technology that is aligned with the business goals of a company, to increase the portability of the system or its interoperability with other partners systems, or to improve its overall design quality. Modernizing existing legacy software systems is a complex, costly and time-consuming process.
