项目摘要

This grant supports the purchase of two walk-in Controlled Environmental Rooms (growth chambers) for interdisciplinary collaborative research in plant biology. The Department of Biology at the University of Toronto Mississauga (UTM) has a vibrant and productive group of nine plant biology faculty who together integrate questions that link genes to ecosystems, while working on organisms as diverse as cyanobacteria and coniferous trees. Highly controlled environments are critically essential for this research as all of the proposed experiments conducted by these researchers require pest-free environments with time-sensitive manipulations of temperature, light and humidity. Walk-in chambers will enable these research groups to tackle new collaborative research among UTM faculty and to exploit collaborations with other institutions in Canada and internationally.
