Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is the single most effective analytical tool used by synthetic chemists for the determination of molecular structure. In this proposal, we seek to replace a damaged probe for a Varian 600 MHz NMR spectrometer located in the NMR Facility at the University of Western Ontario. The requested equipment is a HPX 5 mm PFG tunable triple-resonance probe, where the X-channel would normally be tuned to 13C, but can also be tuned to other elements such as 29Si, 113Cd or 195Pt when required. The equipment is critical to the efficient operation of the spectrometer and supports the research of approximately 100 highly qualified personnel.
