The Centre for Particle Physics (CPP) at the University of Alberta is one of the premier research groups for subatomic physics in Canada. The group is very actively involved in experiments world-wide including ATLAS at CERN, SNO+, DEAP and PICASSO at SNOLAB, and IceCube at South Pole Station Antarctica. These experiments are designed to answer some of the most fundamental questions currently facing Physics. In particular, this includes the search for the nature of dark matter (composing ~25% of the Universe), unraveling the physical parameters of the neutrino, understanding black holes (and their potential production at a quantum scale) and searches for new physics beyond the Standard Model of Particle Physics.
