A regional climate model (RCM) driven by multiple members of two CGCMs (namely the Canadian CGCM3 and the German ECHAM5) will be integrated on two very high-resolution (15 km by 15 km) domains (one for each of western and eastern Canada) from 1950-2100 to generate a multi-model multi-member ensemble of very high-resolution regional climate projections. We will initially focus our attention on quantifying uncertainty associated with projected 21st century changes in water availability, variability and extremes for use in energy planning. Through partnership with BC Hydro (BCH), Hydro-Québec, Rio Tinto Alcan (RTA), the Pacific Climate Impacts Consortium (PCIC) and Ouranos, we will create an unprecedented database of high-resolution projections of 21st century climate change for Canada.
