英文摘要
The electronic devices that have transformed our lives all consume energy. It is this energy consumption which is now producing societal problems not unlike the environmental problems brought forth by the Industrial Revolution. These devices are placing great demands upon our ability to generate the electrical power needed to maintain operation. Hence it is crucial to find solutions which either create new sources of energy or create greater energy efficiency. Considering that 20% of total energy consumption now goes into room lighting, the poor efficiency of traditional sources is now the source of an emerging energy crisis. Given the significant global need for lighting, it is clear there is a desperate need for an updated technological solution for this emerging problem.
