Automatic recognition of gender and age from face images

The objective of this collaborative research project is to develop a methodology for the automatic recognition of facial/pattern occurrences in images captured in real time from video surveillance cameras. The objective is to quickly recognize a pattern recurrence as indicative of certain demographics (age, gender, etc.) and present the results in a convenient format to other applications including advertisement smart appliances, homeland security administrators, lawmakers, etc. This project will study and implement different approaches in gender and age recognition. The solution will be based on extracting features from face images and sending these features to a classifier previously trained on a collection of labeled faces. Performances will be evaluated on standard face databases.
