Gallant Horticultural Solutions Inc. (GHS) has formulated a unique cost-effective methylene-urea-based fertilizer. There is potential that these types of methylene-urea-based fertilizers be used in container nursery crop production to save growers' production costs and the environment. The objectives of this proposed project are to investigate 1) whether methylene-urea-based fertilizers can be used for container nursery crop production, and 2) the optimal fertilizer application rates for different commonly used container nursery crops. This project will provide GHS with suggestions and recommendations for further research and product development. If the tested fertilizer product is applicable to nursery production and proves to have all the expected advantages, then GHS will start to produce this fertilizer and develop more related products. The results will benefit Canadian nursery industry, the environment and GHS, which is a Canadian company.
