英文摘要
Mineral exploration is a pillar of Ontario's economy with annual mineral production topping $5.5 billion a year, creating >90,000 jobs, $1.8 billion in exports, more than $300 million in government revenue and a better standard of living for all Canadians. The Abitibi Greenstone Belt is the largest and most economically important Archean granite-greenstone terrane of the Canadian Shield and host to the Cadillac Lake-Larder Lake Break, Canada's premier gold trend that extends from the gold mines of Val d'Or, Quebec in the east to beyond the Young Davidson Mine in Matachewan, Ontario in the west. In excess of 100 million ounces of gold have been produced along this trend, with the largest single camp being in Kirkland Lake. The Kirkland Lake Camp itself has produced >40 million ounces of gold from such famous mines as Kerr Addison, Macassa, and Lakeshore Mines. Mistango River Resources Inc. (Mistango) is a Kirkland Lake based precious and base metals explorer with significant mineral rights along the prolific Cadillac-Larder Lake Break, including the 100% owned Omega Gold Property located just 4 miles west of the former Kerr Addison mine that produced 10 million ounces of gold. Past production at Omega between 1935-1947 included ~215,000 oz of gold. Mistango resumed diamond drilling on the Omega Gold Property in January 2013, which is a critical but exceedingly expensive component of any successful mineral exploration program. Costs are typically measured in millions of dollars, representing most of a company's annual exploration budget. In order to remain competitive in a highly volatile industry, Mistango recognizes the importance of gaining as much information as possible from their drilling efforts. Detailed work on the mineralogy, petrology, geochemistry, and orientation of mineralized zones will better help us understand the mineralizing system. This knowledge is critical to increasing the success of their exploration programs. By utilizing the advanced scientific tools proposed in this research partnership we expect to help Mistango to be highly competitive in the marketplace, deliver increased shareholder value, and possibly help lead to reopening of the mine.
