项目摘要

Injection molding is a molding process for producing parts mostly in plastic material. In the process, material for the part is fed into a heated barrel, mixed, and forced into a mold where it cools and hardens to the configuration of the mold cavity or surface relief pattern. It has a very broad application ranging from tooth brush, DVD/Blu-ray disk, cosmetic/pharmaceutical packaging, to biomedical devices such as scaffolds and micro-needles. More recently, injection molding is applied for the fabrication of microfluidic devices and drug delivery. The key advantage for injection mold is its low cost and high throughput, compared to other competing techniques such as hot embossing.
