项目摘要

College of the North Atlantic's Wave Energy Research Centre (WERC) in Lord's Cove NL, was established in 2011. In September 2011, College of the North Atlantic, Burin Campus, was awarded a CCI-IE grant to develop a wave-powered pump coupled to a shore based Integrated Multi-trophic Aquaculture (IMTA) farm. The research required the development of an aquaculture facility and a surveyed and instrumented site for the wave energy absorber. To enhance the capabilities of this centre, a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) will be purchased to increase the ability, effectiveness and safety of performing underwater inspections of the equipment being tested and of the installed instrumentation. This system is small enough to be easily deployed from a local fishing vessel, while sufficiently versatile and powerful to be able to operate during non-storm conditions at our site. In addition, instrumentation will be purchased to enhance the data collection abilities of the site.
