In this research project, we propose to investigate new techniques to improve the accuracy and response time of indoor localization systems in non-ideal environments. The targeted application is the precise and continuous tracking of the position of athletes during a game or while training in various fast-paced sports. The expected improvements are such that robotic cameras can be automatically controlled in real-time to capture any individual athlete during an event. These additional cameras will provide new perspective to review some plays and could also allow fans to follow any of their favorite players on their mobile device or internet-enabled television.
