The effective adhesion and/or joining of similar and dissimilar material components is one of the most critical technical prerequisites for manufacturing and construction technologies. Inspired by superior marine adhesives in such biological organisms as zebra mussels, barnacle and castle worms, we have invented a unique synthetic underwater adhesives or superglue, which can work effectively in wet or underwater conditions. Based on the full patent application filed on November 27th, 2012 and a recent Market Assessment in 2014, we propose to advance this technology and turn it into an innovative adhesive product for applications in construction industries as a) low slope roofing systems; b) concrete moisture mitigation systems for flooring; and c) foundation waterproofing systems where all require a level of waterproofing or tuning. The project will focus on solving the technical hurdles (such as stability, curing rate, deliverability, and shelf-life) of the current invention and fabricating a market-ready prototype to promote the technology and attract early stage investments, fine-tuning the technology to meet specific industrial need, and the mass production of the adhesive.
