Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) are manufactured for tubing, casing and drill pipe applications according to the American Petroleum Institute specification. These are welded tubes that attain their target strength through quench and tempering treatment. One of the common grades for general use in deep wells is API P110 which is used for sweet environment with yield strength of 110-140 ksi, minimum tensile strength of 125 ksi and minimum elongation of 14%. As oil and gas well construction and environments become more demanding, there is an increasing demand for higher strength grades such as High Performance P110 (HP P110). This grade has a yield strength 125-140ksi and a minimum tensile strength of 135ksi. The aim of this project is to work with Welded Tubes of Canada (WTC) to design a new steel chemistry that can be quenched and tempered to produced HP P110 at the company's facility in Welland, ON.
