Seastar Chemicals manufactures chemicals designed for the production of thin films of materials. They design and develop chemicals for this purpose, but understanding their behavior under the conditions that the thin films form is challenging. The McIndoe Group plans to help Seastar with this problem by deploying their mass spectrometric infrastructure and expertise in the analysis of organometallic compounds, and establish a model of the decomposition processes that go on in the generation of the films. This feedback will help Seastar's discovery process and lead to faster identification of promising, profitable candidates for precursors to thin film formation.
