Virtual Reality (VR) is changing how we view and interact immersive 3D content. This will not only change the entertainment industry but also fundamentally change how interactive training will take place. The intense immersion in VR training applications leads to better learning outcomes and increased acceptance while at the same time providing cost savings over physical training set-ups. Brinx Software, our industrial partner, is a newly emerging player in the VR training market with advanced 3D display technology on VR headsets. This project is to expand the technology portfolio of Brinx Software with 3D scene capture technology for display on a VR headset. The project will build on recent technology of 3D depth sensing in combination with image-based rendering. The will result in novel research in on-line image-based scene capture as well as help to situate Brinx Software well in an emerging international market.
