The Hudson Bay region is particularly susceptible to the effects of a warming climate. Sea ice distribution and duration is a key driver of the regional climate. Past research has indicated that sea ice is both disappearing and will continue to disappear and will virtually disappear within the next century. This area has been identified as one of the most sensitive regions in the world to climate change which result in a dramatically different climate. This has broad implications on the physical geography, biota and human populations of the region.
