Rubber is an important constituent of automobiles, and an important Canadian product, including from our sponsor LANXESS. Carbon black has traditionally been used as a reinforcing agent for rubber, although its role is gradually being replaced by silica, which leads to lower rolling resistance, leading to improved efficiency (better mileage and better road 'grip').
