It is estimated that smoking imposes an economic burden on the Canadian health care system in excess of $18.7B annually [1]. Thus, even a small reduction in the percentage of smokers in the Canadian population will have a significant and positive benefit to health care delivery in Canada. To this end, Appnovation Inc. (Vancouver, BC) is developing a cell phone "Quitter's Circle App" that assists smokers in quitting their habit. The quitter engages a "quitter's circle", which is a support group of family and friends. The app interacts with the quitter, and when it senses that the quitter is about to relapse, it messages the circle so they can offer aid.
