Mondias Naturals Inc. (MNI) has identified several herb extracts with antimicrobial activity and has demonstrated the potential of these to be used as biofungicides or as components of a fertilizer to prevent fungal infections. With this first NSERC Engage, MNI would like to obtain evidence that provides an independent assessment of the potential antifungal properties of these extracts and subsequently create more potent formulations based on the research that will be performed by McGill. The company needs to understand the microbiological spectrum of antifungal activity before commercializing any first generation product. In addition, the research data generated by this project will allow them to focus on specific agricultural markets.
