As the integration of renewable energy sources continues increasing, it is imperative to incorporate theirintrinsic stochastic dynamics in power system modelling to achieve realistic and accurate security analysisresults such as state estimations, stability assessments, etc. OPAL-RT TECHNOLOGIES is a world leader inpower system and electronics real-time simulation offering comprehensive models from synchronousgenerators, excitation systems, to transmission lines, capacitor banks, loads, etc. However, the current modelsof the company have not incorporated the stochastic characteristics of the renewable generators. The proposedproject aims to incorporate the intrinsic uncertainties of power system components into the real-time simulatorof the company. The outcomes of the project will add more realistic and accurate models of wind turbines, photovoltaic and loads to the existing library leading to more accurate security analysis for modern powergrids.
