Dymedso Company has been working for several years in the research and development of new medicaltechnology, The FrequencerTM, to help patients affected by chronic respiratory diseases (CRDs) related todefective mucociliary clearance including cystic fibrosis (CF) and chronic bronchitis, among others.The FrequencerTM, manufactured by Dymedso Company, is a digitally controlled acoustic airway clearancepoint-of-care (POC) device that promotes bronchial drainage by inducing vibrations in the chest wall of thepatient. The FrequencerTM provides a gentler and less painful form of therapy than the traditional "clappingmethod" or postural drainage. The current and older versions of this device have received certifications fromHealth Canada, FDA, ISO 13485:2003, and UL for North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand.Dymedso is planning to introduce a new technology of its sound-wave generation therapy that addresses someissues identified by patients and caregivers over the past years of use in clinical practice. The identified issuesinvolve ergonomic and performance limitations. For instance, the current version of the device is stillcumbersome for patient use. Thus, for more practical and effective use, the device needs to be optimized interms of size, weight, and overall performance. We will carefully analyze each of the modules composing TheFrequencerTM including the sound-wave generator, the transducer, and the communication system to proposeimprovements for each of them. In addition, different types of sensors and feedback interfaces will beinvestigated for the new version in order to improve the effectiveness of this device.
