英文摘要
In today's modern society, networking between client devices is playing an increasingly vital role in servicingour communication needs. Multi-path network protocols, wherein data from one client device may bebroken-up into its constituent components, these components being individually transmitted over a multitude ofnetwork pathways, and then reconstituted at the receiving client device, offer the promise of improvedperformance and enhanced economy. In such a network protocol, network traffic would be routed acrossmultiple access points and multiple networks simultaneously. Unfortunately, while the benefits of a multi-pathnetwork protocol are widely recognized, the technical challenges that must be overcome for its implementationhave hindered its widespread adoption thus far.JA2 Applications, which does business under the yodelME brand, is a Kelowna, British Columbia based firmthat develops network solutions. They have recently developed a client application algorithm and associatednetwork configuration process that they assert will allow for multi-path networking on today's availablenetworks without the need for additional network infrastructure. yodelME would like to critically assess therobustness of their multi-path network protocol to variations in network conditions. They also wish to see iffurther improvements in the networking technology can be acquired.Working in concert with the yodelMe development team and yodelME's CTO, Mr. Jeff Brown, we willperform detailed simulations of the network selection behaviour that will be achieved as a consequence of thisnew proposed network protocol. We will also build a physical test lab comprised of the common physicalnetwork interface modalities for mobile devices (i.e. wired via USB, cellular, WiFi, and Bluetooth). Theperformance of yodelMe's network protocol will be experimentally examined and quantified in terms ofnetwork selection predictability, stability, and reliability.
