Reproducible and reliable electrode manufacturing for water quality sensors is essential to ensuring accurate, low cost, consistent measurements. FREDsense Technologies Corp. has developed a novel, low cost system forthe detection of trace levels of contaminants in water samples using engineered bacteria. The bacteria produce aquantifiable electrical signal that indicates the amount of a compound present in the water sample. Theelectrical output from the bacteria is both fast and sensitive and is detected by the electrodes, making them anessential part of the biosensor system. Therefore, a method to fabricate them reliably, quickly and at a low costare essential for the successful implementation of the FREDsense system into current water monitoringworkflows. This study will determine the optimized electrodes parameters using a sputter deposition approachto their manufacture.
