We propose to use energy-sensitive x-ray detectors manufactured by Redlen Technologies for non-destructive**material analysis and will focus on food inspetion. Through advanced experiments we will find the optimal**parameters for x-ray scanning of objects that yield the highest detection sensitivity. Here we will expand on the**theoretical work performed in our original Engage grant that determined the detector settings for most sensitive**cartilage detection in chicken breast. We will now provide algorithms for foreign small object detection based**on experimental results. The company will benefit from our knowledge of image processing algorithms and**together we will provide Canadians with improved food inspection techniques.
