Sustainable Chemistry and Materials

近年来，纳米材料的研究取得了令人瞩目的成就，并显示出巨大的潜力；然而，这些材料尚未广泛应用于主流技术。特别是，合成低成本、环境友好的纳米材料的可持续途径尚未得到有意义的探索。我们的重点是开发一个研究项目，强调可持续纳米材料的三个关键要素：1)低成本的纳米传感平台，用高丰度的绿色材料建造；2)利用绿色设计原则创造增强型光伏和催化剂；3)在偏远和/或资源有限的环境中用于持续监测分析物的可生物降解平台，旨在改善全球健康。

Recent advances in nanomaterials research have seen remarkable achievements and a demonstrated potential; however, widespread implementation of such materials into mainstream technology has not been realized. In particular, sustainable routes for synthesis of low-cost, environmentally benign nanomaterials has not been explored in significance. Our focus is to develop a research program which emphasizes three key elements of sustainable nanomaterials: 1) Low-cost nano-platforms for sensing, constructed both of and with high-abundance green materials 2) Creation of enhanced photovoltaics and catalysts using green design principles and 3) Biodegradable platforms for continual analyte monitoring in remote and / or resource-limited settings, with an aim to improve global health.
