Spectrum Manufacturing produces high quality professional LED lighting products for entertainment and industry. LED components used in their products have limitations on the stability of their light output due to temperature rise of the LED components in the luminaire. In addition the spatial and angular uniformity of the light output from luminaires is very critical and it is ideal to have a uniform phosphor coating on the front of the luminaire which is remotely excited by blue LEDs behind the phosphor. This configuration is referred to as a 'remote phosphor' arrangement. The benefits to Spectrum Manufacturing are the high level of long term stability of colour coordinates and a more precise specification of colour coordinates without any directional dependence compared to direct LED illumination products.****Collaborating with the Kitai laboratory at McMaster University, Spectrum Manufacturing will have access to the expertise and equipment required to successfully develop colour remote phosphor plates. This will enable Spectrum Manufacturing to develop a range of industry-leading remote phosphor luminaire products having well-controlled colours. These luminaires incorporate coated phosphor plates that will be produced in-house at Spectrum Manufacturing. This will give Spectrum Manufacturing the ability to respond to market needs for these types of luminaires with quick turn-around and full quality control. Target size of the plates is 60cm x 60cm. This will allow Spectrum, through the improvements in colour uniformity and predictability, to extend their product line and satisfy previous unavailable customers & markets with this premium lighting product.****** ******
