The CRC in Evolutionary Demography and Conservation seeks to understand how natural variation and human activities affect genotype, phenotype, life history, population and evolutionary potential of vertebrate populations. My research is theory-driven, relies on exceptional long-term studies of marked individuals and uses multi-disciplinary approaches to address novel hypotheses. Over the next five years, I will drive an innovative program in evolutionary demography, aiming at understanding how humans impact the natural world. Our research is crucial for scientists and the general public because human activities are influencing the ecology and evolution of wild species, which provide important services to our society.
