Robust recovery and quality assessment of power grid data

Recovery of missing power grid data plays a key role in the reliable operation and control of the power grid. Algorithms for data recovery need to be real time and robust with respect to inaccurate data. Technology that power utility companies can use to help them monitor the state of the power grid and thereby take adaptive, corrective, and preventive action would ultimately bring most benefit to the consumers, through cheaper and more reliable energy supply. The proposed research project brings together researchers from SFU and Awesense with the goal of developing computational methods to optimally recover missing grid data and assess data quality in a fast, robust, and efficient way. Outcomes from this project will be used to enhance Awesense existing set of products as well as create a new product line.
